5. Intergenerational value creation
We sustain wellbeing
for generations
Why this matters for long-term value creation
NSSF's mandate extends beyond protecting retirement savings. As one of Uganda's largest institutional investors, the Fund plays a vital role in mobilising long-term domestic savings, expanding financial inclusion and strengthening Uganda's capacity for sustainable economic growth.
Uganda's Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV) and the Government's Ten-Fold Growth Strategy recognise that inclusive economic transformation depends on increasing productivity, creating employment, mobilising domestic capital and expanding financial inclusion. NSSF contributes to these national ambitions by extending social security beyond the formal workforce, strengthening financial capability, and creating opportunities for more Ugandans to participate in long-term savings.
Rather than waiting for economic growth alone to create future contributors, we are actively creating the conditions that enable more Ugandans to generate sustainable incomes, build financial resilience, and participate in the formal savings ecosystem. Through innovation, strategic partnerships, digital transformation, and financial education, we are cultivating the next generation of savers while mobilising long-term capital that supports Uganda's sustainable development.
By creating both the capacity and the willingness to save, we strengthen financial security for members today while creating lasting value for future generations.
Our strategic response
To create sustainable wellbeing for generations, we continue to:
Expand social security coverage across both the formal and informal sectors
Build the capacity and willingness of Ugandans to save through financial literacy, accessible products, digital innovation, and targeted engagement
Support entrepreneurship, agriculture and other productive sectors that strengthen sustainable livelihoods and economic participation
Mobilise long-term domestic savings and invest responsibly in opportunities that support Uganda's national development priorities while delivering sustainable long-term returns
Integrate sustainability considerations into investment, governance, and business decision-making to strengthen long-term resilience
