Hi-Innovator rests on the premise that Uganda’s next contributors are today’s informal entrepreneurs, and that helping a small business grow can also bring its owner and employees into social security.
Since 2020, our partnership with the Mastercard Foundation has trained more than 89,000 entrepreneurs and seed-funded 438 small and growing businesses, 70% of them women-led, sustaining over 202,323 jobs and attracting UGX 23.48 billion in follow-on funding.
The membership pipeline is still young, with 2,301 new active members to date, but it offers early evidence that enterprise growth and social security participation can be built from the same investment.
The next phase will support 1,000 additional businesses through a new Technical Assistance Facility and Revolving Credit Fund, designed to convert that pipeline at scale. Read more in our Sustainability Report
