The Fund was named the winner in the Short Video category of the first-ever International Social Security Video Festival and Awards at the World Social Security Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in September 2025. The awards attracted 261 video submissions from 96 organisations across 69 countries, reflecting global commitment to promoting social security through creative storytelling.

OECD/INFE Financial Literacy Network 2027
The Fund joined the OECD/INFE Financial Literacy Network and was selected as the next host for Global Money Week 2027 and the second Meeting and Symposium of the Africa Financial Literacy Network, scheduled for 2027.

International diplomatic engagements
The Fund participated in several international diplomatic events, including business fora and business-to-business meetings hosted by various Ugandan embassies and high commissions abroad. These engagements opened strategic relationships and opportunities with international partners in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and other countries.
East African Community (EAC)
In September 2025, the Fund participated in the seventh technical experts meeting. The meeting had several key outcomes that endorsed the establishment of the sectoral council structure covering social affairs such as gender, youth, children, people with disabilities, social protection, labour, and migration. The meeting also made the following recommendations:
Adoption of the EAC Social Protection Policy and action plan. The policy seeks to reduce poverty and vulnerability, expand access to social protection, strengthen legal and institutional frameworks, enhance sustainable financing mechanisms, and improve coordination among Partner States
The inclusion of labour and migration within the mandate of the new sectoral council creates a stronger institutional platform for advancing labour mobility, regional workforce integration, migrant workers' protection and social security coordination and portability arrangements
Adoption of the East African Regional Model Competency Standards for Domestic Workers

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of East African Community Affairs invited NSSF and other key institutions to participate in a Regional Validation Meeting, held from 3 to 7 November 2025. Participation enabled the Fund to:
Contribute technical expertise on social security matters
Influence regional social protection frameworks
Promote labour mobility initiatives
Ensure social security considerations are integrated into emerging regional policies
EAC Diaspora Policy · March 2026
The EAC Revised Diaspora Policy Technical Meeting was held from 16 to 20 March 2026. The Policy seeks to establish a coordinated regional framework for engaging more than 15 million East Africans living abroad and leveraging their financial, intellectual and social capital for regional integration and development. The policy aims to:
Strengthen regional policy and institutional frameworks
Promote diaspora participation and partnerships
Improve diaspora data and information management
Harness skills and technology transfer
Protect migrant workers and diaspora communities
Reduce remittance costs
Promote return and reintegration
Encourage trade, investment, and tourism
Enhance social and cultural linkages
Support diaspora philanthropy
From 4-8 May 2026, a regional meeting was held to review the report and validate the draft EAC Diaspora Policy and its implementation plan. The meeting validated the study report that established the necessity of a regional EAC Diaspora Policy. The study confirmed that diaspora engagement requires a regional framework capable of coordinating diaspora matters, mobilising diaspora investments, facilitating knowledge and technology transfer, supporting regional integration and advancing socio-economic transformation. The meeting consequently recommended that the Joint Sectoral Councils take note of the justification study supporting development of the EAC Diaspora Policy.
The meeting substantially revised and validated the draft policy with the strategic goal of positioning the East African Diaspora as a vital partner in regional integration and development while enhancing sustainable economic growth, socio-cultural cohesion, and global competitiveness of the EAC.
