The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of East African Community Affairs invited NSSF and other key institutions to participate in a Regional Validation Meeting, held from 3 to 7 November 2025. Participation enabled the Fund to:
Contribute technical expertise on social security matters
Influence regional social protection frameworks
Promote labour mobility initiatives
Ensure social security considerations are integrated into emerging regional policies
EAC Diaspora Policy · March 2026
The EAC Revised Diaspora Policy Technical Meeting was held from 16 to 20 March 2026. The Policy seeks to establish a coordinated regional framework for engaging more than 15 million East Africans living abroad and leveraging their financial, intellectual and social capital for regional integration and development. The policy aims to:
- Strengthen regional policy and institutional frameworks
- Promote diaspora participation and partnerships
- Improve diaspora data and information management
- Harness skills and technology transfer
- Protect migrant workers and diaspora communities
- Reduce remittance costs
- Promote return and reintegration
- Encourage trade, investment, and tourism
- Enhance social and cultural linkages
- Support diaspora philanthropy
