Appointment and delegation to management
The Board ensures that appointment and delegation to management promote operational effectiveness and that the roles and decision-making powers of Board and management are clearly defined.
Outcomes supported
The requirements of this principle are achieved because we have the following in place:
The MD is recommended by the Board and appointed by the Minister under the NSSF Act; a Delegation of Authority Framework sets out powers reserved for the Board (including all investment decisions under Section 31) and those delegated to the MD and EXCO.
EXCO comprises 14 senior executives holding CPAs, CFAs, MBAs, LLBs and other relevant professional designations. See our EXCO.
The Corporation Secretary holds an Executive MBA, LLB (Hons), Diploma in Legal Practice, and is a Chartered Governance Graduate with independent, unfettered access to the Board.
Succession planning extends to the MD and EXCO; the appointment of Gerald Paul Kasaato as Deputy Managing Director is evidence of internal succession.
