Stewardship beyond financial returns
One of the most significant developments emerging from the Board's strategic deliberations is the evolution of our investment philosophy.
While preserving members' savings and delivering sustainable returns remain non-negotiable responsibilities, the Board believes NSSF can play a greater role in Uganda's socio-economic transformation. Accordingly, we are progressively positioning the Fund to participate more directly in investments that generate both financial and developmental returns.
This includes carefully selected opportunities in infrastructure, strategic industries, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, logistics, energy, and other sectors aligned with national development priorities. Such investments will continue to be pursued within rigorous governance, risk management, and fiduciary frameworks. Our commitment remains clear: developmental impact will never come at the expense of safeguarding members' funds.
This approach aligns with Uganda's long-term growth aspirations and reflects our belief that domestic savings can be a powerful catalyst for economic development, job creation, and improved livelihoods.
The Board increasingly views NSSF not only as a custodian of retirement savings but also as a strategic national institution capable of mobilising domestic capital to support Uganda's transformation agenda. Through carefully selected investments, we seek to generate sustainable returns for members while contributing to economic growth, employment creation, industrial development, and national competitiveness. This reflects our belief in Uganda's potential and our commitment to creating sustainable value.
